Loss by Jennifer Yates (2021)

It leaves sorrow

It's a game life must play.

It meters out platitudes,

Plays on your fears,

It revives the memory

Of forgotten years.

It plunders the heart,

It offers no balm

And leaves you feeling broken,

But let me please explain,

Again and again.

I haven't found much comfort,

But this I can assure,

I'm right in there beside you,

I feel your loss too.
